Cirque du Soleil marks its first Broadway show with Paramour, which dazzles audiences with high-flying stunts, amazing acrobatics and death-defying feats. Here’s a look at some of the show’s best acts, which will leave audience members roaring with applause as they try to pick their jaws up off the floor.
Speakeasy—The creative and choreography teams of Paramour show off their chops early, during the first big dance scene of the show. With people juggling wine glasses, a woman balancing upside down on chairs and a man tap dancing on a piano while wearing rollerskates, it’s almost hard to know what to watch.
Andrew and Kevin Atherton—These world-renowned aerial strap artists (left) are nothing short of remarkable as they soar dozens of feet above the air and over the audience, holding on to nothing more than long straps. At times, one brother will forgo the strap to balance on his twin, and the two are hands-down one of the best parts of the show.
Trampoline Artists—These talented acrobats do flips and somersaults, landing perfectly on their feet every time.
Indigo’s Decision—Martin Charrat, Myriam Deraiche and Samuel William Charlton make balancing upside down on a trapeze look easy. Combining dance, acrobatics and gymnastics, these skilled performers portray the love triangle between the lead characters Indigo, AJ and Joey.
New York City Rooftops—All good chase scenes need a roof sequence and Paramour incorporates lots of trampolines for this one. The good and bad guys bounce, flip and jump around, holding fun poses throughout.
