Town Offers Veterans Free Access To Caseworker

North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth, members of the Town Board and the Town’s Veterans Advisory Committee reminds residents that the town’s Department of Services for the Aging (DOSA) allocates seven to 10 hours a week of social work exclusively for veterans. There are approximately 1,200 veterans in the town.

“The town continues to offer veterans the services of a dedicated caseworker,” said Bosworth. “Our veterans have given so much to our community and our country and I am honored to be able to provide them with this service at no charge to them.”

The caseworker, who is a gerontologist, works with the veterans by appointment at the DOSA offices located at Clinton G. Martin Park in New Hyde Park and at the Port Washington Senior Center located at 80 Manorhaven Blvd. in Port Washington. A home visit will also be made if needed. Veterans can receive help with a number of issues, including assistance with accessing benefits and connecting to a variety of services.
