Great Neck UFSD student Jonathan Arevalo, who’s attending Nassau BOCES Barry Tech, was awarded $125 in scholarship funds for his exemplary efforts both in and out of the classroom. The young scholar received the award at the 2016 Barry Tech Scholarship Luncheon, held at the Joseph M. Barry Career & Technical Education Center.
A student in Video Production and Digital Filmmaking, Arevalo earned the Barry Tech Career and Technical Education Achievement Award for his exceptional performance in his chosen field of study, active participation in school activities and community service, and service to his peers as a positive role model.
“These students have gone above and beyond their academics to demonstrate a genuine passion and commitment to their fields,” said Barry Tech Principal Laurie Harris. “Part of the Nassau BOCES mission is to enable students of all ages and abilities to achieve their maximum potential. These scholarships help us to do just that, by providing them with financial, as well as educational, support.”
