Northwell Health and Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, in conjunction with Suffolk County, are assisting veterans in transitioning from the military to a life and career back at home by offering a free workshop, “Barracks to Business: Translating Military Skills into Career Success.” Northwell Health is seeking to fill thousands of open positions throughout the health system’s 21 hospitals and 450 community facilities.

The free workshop will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Cradle of Aviation Museum, located on Charles Lindbergh Boulevard in Garden City.

“My administration is committed to supporting the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces upon their return home,” said Mangano. “From leadership to discipline and organization, our veterans have the skills desired by employers. I am proud to partner with Northwell Health and Suffolk County to offer this free workshop and provide veterans the opportunity to enhance their resumes, interviewing skills and network with recruiters.”

The “Barracks to Business” Workshop will assist veterans in translating essential and highly sought after military skill sets (i.e. leadership, discipline, flexibility, organization, change management, etc.) into a language clearly understood by civilian human resource recruiting and hiring staffs. The workshop will provide assistance with resume writing and guidance on proven interviewing techniques, plus and the opportunity to network with recruiters and other veterans.

To attend the free “Barracks to Business” Workshop, veterans must register online at: www.barracks-to-business-cradle-of-aviation.ttcportals.com.
