The Levittown Athletic Club (LAC) Girls Fastpitch Softball League held its first annual Batting to Beat Childhood Cancer event on Sept. 17, at Azalea Road Park in Levittown. All of the proceeds went to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
The event featured two charity softball games between the Division Avenue and Island Trees girls varsity softball teams and another between LAC parents and coaches.
The event also featured games, local merchants, food trucks, a bounce house, raffle drawings and the Levittown/Island Trees Girls Scouts and Hofstra women’s softball team, who offered all day batting cage instruction and mini pitching clinics.
Students from MacArthur’s chorus sang the national anthem and a check was presented to St. Jude representatives.
