“Ah Phooey, the Election” is a declaration of surrender. Sure, no one likes the way this election has been conducted. Sure, we have two flawed candidates, but staying home and pouting about it is the wrong response.
Now more than ever we have to make a choice, live with the fact that it’s an imperfect choice and vote. If apathy is what got us into this mess, than more apathy is unlikely to get us out.
Voting is only step one. Pick the party you most identify with and get involved. If you don’t like its stand on an issue, work to change it. Talk to your friends, your neighbors, your coworkers, get others to get involved, too.
With all its flaws, America still has the best form of government on the planet. It’s our job as citizens to correct the flaws and work to make it better. To give up on our country for any reason is inexcusable. I, for one, won’t do it.
See you at the polls.
