The Floral Park Memorial High School girls varsity volleyball team had quite a season. The team was seeded eighth out of nine teams in Conference A-1, the highest ability conference.
In spite of the players getting familiar with a new coach and competing in a new conference, the team pulled together, finishing third in the conference with a record of 13-3.
In the playoffs, the Lady Knights sailed through the first two rounds, easily defeating Hewlett and MacArthur. In the Nassau County semifinals, the girls managed to come back from a two-game-to-one deficit to beat No. 2 seed Southside.
Their journey didn’t end there. As the underdogs of the entire season, the Lady Knights managed to upset No. 1 seed Wantagh in a spectacular five-game match to capture the Nassau County Championship.
