Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting of Uniondale Teen

A teenager was arrested for is role in the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy in the victim’s hometown of Uniondale last month, Nassau County police said.

Jeustin David Maldonado, 17, also of Uniondale, was charged with second-degree attempted murder, conspiracy and criminal facilitation. He was denied bail following his arraignment Wednesday.

Police said the suspect was involved in the death of Alexon Moya, who was standing on Fenimore Avenue when he was shot in the head at 11:27 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13. The victim died three days later at Nassau University Medical Center.

Maldonado was apprehended following his arrest on weapons and menacing charges for a Jan. 7 domestic incident with his brother, police said.

Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation into the shooting.
