An East Meadow man was arrested for selling prescription painkillers to a teenager that fatally overdosed on the drugs on Saturday, Nassau County police said.

Bruno A. Mendez, 28, was charged with criminal sale and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Major Case Squad Detectives said the suspect was arrested about six hours after police officers that responding to a 911 call found a 19-year-old woman dead of an overdose on the flood of a Barbara Drive home in East Meadow on Saturday morning.

Investigators traced the pills back to the suspect, who sold the drugs to the victim, authorities said. The victim’s name was not released.

Mendez will be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
