Little Shelter Rescues Canine Hamilton

hamilton dogHamilton is one of the sweetest dogs Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center has ever met in its 90 long years. He has big doe eyes and is full of love. Hamilton has been making friends with everyone he meets since he first stepped foot into Little Shelter.

However, this lovable lug has had a long journey to get the care he needs. Hamilton was turned into one of Long Island’s municipal shelters as a stray. He stayed with them for a few months being passed over by potential adopters because he had trouble walking. Realizing that he needed more help than what they could provide, the town shelter reached out to local rescues and Little Shelter stepped in to take him when no other rescue would.

hamilton dogLittle Shelter’s veterinarian discovered Hamilton had torn the ACLs (anterior cruciate ligament) in both of his back legs and arthritis problems. Hamilton required surgery to repair the damaged ligaments.

The total cost of his surgery and recovery care is $3,000 and Little Shelter is currently asking for donations through youcaring.com to help cover the cost of this life-saving surgery for Hamilton.
