New Yorkers will march for climate, jobs and justice
All Our Energy, Stewards of the Sea, Long Island Progressive Coalition, the Sierra Club and several other organizations will host a Long Island sister march to the People’s Climate March in Washington, DC, on Saturday, April 29, beginning at 10 a.m. at 1 National Blvd. in Long Beach on the boardwalk.
The event has an RSVP attendance of approximately 500, and marks the end of the first 100 days of the Trump administration. Thus far, Donald Trump has dismantled hard-won climate protections, issued assaults on our air, water, and land, directly attacked the well-being of working families and marginalized Indigenous communities, people of color, immigrants, the LGBTQIA community, women, young people and low-income communities.
Together with environmental justice, faith-based, youth, Indigenous and civil rights groups, labor unions, frontline communities and other justice-focused organizations, the Long Island march will be joining the tens of thousands in solidarity by taking to the streets for climate, jobs and justice.
The march is expected to be the largest climate mobilization since the election, with marches happening in Washington, DC, and across the country. For more information on the People’s Climate March, visit peoplesclimate.org.
