A 41-year-old Walt Whitman High School teacher was arrested Thursday for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old girl who was one of his students, Suffolk County police said.

Brian Dreher was charged with third-degree rape, criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child.

The social studies teacher at the Huntington Station-based school was arrested at his home following an investigation by Special Victims Section detectives.

He will be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip. Detectives ask anyone with information to call them at 631-852-6531.
