Whether you are vegan or just in the mood for a meatless meal, that doesn’t mean there aren’t any tasty options for dining out on Long Island—far from it.

Since October is Vegetarian Month, this week we’re highlighting that Press readers voted Tula Kitchen Best Vegetarian Restaurant on Long Island in the 2017 Best of Long Island competition and Bareburger Best won the title of Best Veggie Burger on Long Island in the contest.

The talented Jackie Sharlup, Tula Kitchen’s chef and owner, shows us that meat doesn’t have to be on the menu in order to serve up truly inventive and satisfying fare. She has created a destination restaurant with an extraordinary vegetarian cuisine that draws loyal diners from Montauk to Manhattan looking for sophisticated vegetarian fare and casual elegance. Live music is also regularly on the evening menu. As their motto says: “Live to eat—eat to live!”

And over at Bareburger, they specialize in using organic, fresh ingredients in all of its dishes in order to ensure that every customer receives an absolutely delicious meal bursting with flavor. Their produce is free of GMOs and pesticides, their breads are all-natural, and their sauces are gluten-free. One of their famous menu items is their veggie burger, which is a great option for vegetarians who still crave a burger now and then, and for those who would like to try this different take on a classic, American dish.
