Registration for Great Neck Public Schools Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) for the 2018–19 school year will begin on Monday, Nov. 27. This program is offered at no cost to all district residents. To be eligible, children must be 4 years old by Dec. 1, 2018.
The UPK program is primarily housed at the Parkville School at 10 Campbell St. in New Hyde Park with district bus transportation for either the morning or afternoon session. In compliance with the New York State Education Department, some students can attend the district’s UPK collaborative agency, Great Neck Community School, located at 225 Schenck Ave., though school district bus transportation is not available to or from the Schenck Avenue location.
Registration will be held through Dec. 8 on school days from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Office of Registration and Attendance in the Phipps Administration Building, 345 Lakeville Rd. Children do not need to attend registration, which will be held, according to last name, as follows: Last names starting with the letters A to F register on Nov. 27 or 28, G to K on Nov. 29 or 30, L to O on Dec. 1 or 4, P to T on Dec. 5 or 6 and U to Z on Dec. 7 or 8.
No placements will be made until the end of the registration period, so it is unnecessary to register before the designated days and times. Those who have not received a registration packet in the mail can download the forms at www.greatneck.k12.ny.us.
Be sure to bring the required documents: proof of school district residency (a deed, current tax bill or closing statement to show ownership or a current signed lease or rent receipts, if rental), three pieces of official USPS mail (electronic mail is not acceptable), child’s original
birth certificate, parent or guardian valid photo ID, parental control papers (if applicable) and child’s immunization certificate signed and stamped by a physician or authorized health agency.
