pjimage (92)

November is National Adopt A Senior Pet Month, and a great reason to celebrate and promote the adoption of older animals who are most often calmer, gentler and already trained! There is no shortage of senior dogs and cats looking to spend the best years of their live in a new forever home, so head down to your local shelter/rescue and adopt one today!

Available for adoption through Pets4Luv:

Meehan
Meehan

Meehan is a sweet and quiet little cat who was found outside with an open wound across his face. Pets4Luv came to rescue, trapped and treated his wounds as quickly as they could. At about 8-to-10 years young, this little guy now co-exists peacefully with one dog and other cats in his temporary foster home but prefers to hide and keep to himself. Can you open your heart and home to this deserving kitty?

Logan
Logan

Poor Logan shares a similar story. Pets4Luv answered a call for help for a cat outside with a gaping, open wound on his neck, and thanks to their caring and quick action, Logan has since healed from his surgery. He also co-exists peacefully with the one dog and cats in his current temporary foster home, but is extremely timid, keeps to himself, and hides. Logan is a mellow boy who just needs a quiet and safe forever home of his own. Logan is about 8-to-10 years old and is FIV+, but that doesn’t mean he needs to be a solo cat in a home. Contact Pets4Luv for more information.

Shera
Shera

Sadly, Shera is a gorgeous 11-to-12-year old lady who was found with BB gun pellets inside of her. And if that wasn’t enough to deal with, it turned out she was also pregnant. While her baby was adopted, she waits patiently for her forever home. Now she coexists peacefully with a dog and other cats in her temporary foster home but is shy and keeps to herself.

Misty 2
Misty

Eleven-year-old Misty is stunning! She likes to be pet and adores human attention. She is peacefully co-existing with a dog and other cats in her temporary foster home but would love nothing more than a permanent home. Can it be yours?

Abby
Abby

URGENT PLACEMENT REQUEST: Abby is a 5-to-7-year old whose human caretaker (a Pets4Luv volunteer) has a terminal condition and sadly can no longer care for her. Abby is very shy. She’s not a lap cat, doesn’t like to be pet, but with the right socialization, Abby will do just fine. She’s just in need of a safe home to live in. She loves food so she can be motivated to come around. Abby’s owner would like to find peace in knowing she is cared for. Please help if you can.

To adopt or foster Meehan, Logan, Shera, Misty, or Abby, please contact Dave at info@pets4luv.org or 516-832-8200.

Austin
Austin

When 12-year-old Austin (adoption #D46107) arrived NSALA’s adoption center recently, he was overwhelmed, first by the rapid changes occurring to him after years in a home, then by the outpouring of support he received from all of his Animal League America Family. Treats and chin rubs will earn his forever love. If you’d like to make a difference in a senior cat’s life, please make time to visit the Port Washington campus and meet Austin. He will not disappoint!

Orangey
Orangey

When Orangey (adoption #H199817) first arrived at NSALA’s Pet Adoption Center, staff had to check her birth certificate. They couldn’t believe this sweet, gentle soul is 9 years old! From the moment Orangey arrived, this gal has displayed a can-do attitude and welcomes every visitor with head bumps and purrs. Not every feline can accept drastic changes to their life with such courage. Orangey has nothing but high hopes for her future! If you’re looking for an easy-going senior cat to take into your home, Orangey is the purrfect choice.

Vanna and Pat
Vanna and Pat

Time to spin the wheel of better fortune for Vanna White (adoption #BF2819) and Pat Sajak (adoption #BF2820). While Vanna was immediately aware that her new surroundings were safe, it took her best friend Pat some time to accept humans as companions. But with a little time and lots of love from staff and volunteers, Pat is now ready to host some human hearts. Vanna and Pat are looking for a home with children 8 and up in age and cat-experienced adults who will continue to help them acclimate to their very first home together.

Kazam
Kazam

Kazam (adoption #NCI1279) may seem cautious at first, but this older kitten of seven months just needs a quiet home and a gentle human to help him adjust to life as a family member. Having traveled from NSALA’s Upstate NY Adirondacks shelter, Kazam is ready to be showered with love. A family with children 6 and up in age will soothe his worries and help him adjust to life as a cherished pet.
