The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze kicks off the 2022 season of “Blaze: Long Island” at Old Bethpage Village Restoration on Sept. 30.

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and Historic Hudson Valley, a nonprofit organization that runs the event in Sleepy Hollow and Nassau, announced the Halloween-themed extravaganza’s return at a news conference Wednesday.

“This year’s event features more exhibits and new special effects, which we are all very excited about,” said Waddell Stillman, president of Historic Hudson Valley. “I want to thank Nassau County for welcoming us back and for giving us the opportunity to entertain Long Islanders like never before.

“I also want to thank the many hard-working artisans, production team members and community volunteers, who are working day and night to bring this thrilling Halloween event to life.”

About the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze

The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze is an immersive, walk-through experience for kids and adults alike to enjoy. There will be more than 25 exhibits featuring a total of 7,000 carved and colorfully-lit pumpkins along the trail, plus themed music and sound effects tying it all together.

Fifteen artists under the direction of Michael Natiello, an artist who is nationally recognized for his pumpkin carvings, will craft the wondrous pumpkin displays and sculptures.

“I want to thank Historic Hudson Valley for bringing its highly successful Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze to Nassau County again this year,” Blakeman said. “This will be the third time Long Islanders will be able to enjoy this breathtaking, magical exhibit, the largest of its kind and an event that draws tens of thousands of residents from across Long Island.”

Hundreds of young volunteers from local community groups, including Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops from Plainedge, Levittown, and West Islip, as well as local high schoolers, will help to light the Jack O’Lanterns.

Themed exhibits will include new creations such as Long Island Lighthouse, Classic Hollywood Monsters, Deep Sea Divers, Headless Horseman, and Long Island Hall of Fame (featuring Long Island icons such as Billy Joel, Joan Jett, Sue Bird, and more).

“Blaze: Long Island” runs from Sept. 30 through Nov. 6. Advanced, timed entry or flex-time tickets are required for the event and available for purchase at pumpkinblaze.org. Tickets are $32 for adults, $24 for children ages 3-17, and free for children 2 and under.
