Cats and Dogs Available for Adoption on Long Island

All of these wonderful cats and dogs available for adoption have been vetted and spayed/neutered, which means they’re ready to go home with you today.

In light of World Spay Day on Feb. 28, it’s important to remember that failing to spay and neuter dogs and cats is responsible for millions of unwanted animals which leads to overpopulation and euthanasia, so remember to always sterilize your indoor and outdoor pets.

Chewy
Chewy

Chewy is a 3- to 4-year-old Lab/Shar Pei/Pit Mix who arrived at the Animal Shelter with his siblings after their previous owner sadly passed away. Chewy had some allergy issues that have since cleared up, but they may resurface as seasons change. He has experience living with other dogs but can sometimes be a little hesitant when other dogs come up to his kennel.

Hours at the Smithtown Animal Shelter are currently Monday t0 Saturday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. (Sundays and Wednesday evenings: by appointment only). To inquire about Chewy or to meet your potential soulmate, please call 631-360-7575.

Barney
Barney

Beloved 8-month-old Barney (Adoption #WV0364) had a rough start to life but a lifesaving trip from an overcrowded southern shelter to NSALA’S medical center has rewritten his life story. Now healthy, this robust boy has been saving up a ton of gratitude to bestow upon the lucky hero who claims his heart. Animal League America predicts the rest of his life will be sunny days and head bumps to erase any past challenges from his memory. Who wouldn’t want to show Barney a fresh new purrspective?

**Double Adoption** Eight-year-olds Tommy (Adoption #CO0018) and Benny (Adoption #CO0019) lost the only home they’d ever known when their beloved owner passed away. Super lovable Tommy is taking the changes in stride, while shyer Benny looks to his more confident brother to help him come to terms with shelter life. These brothers couldn’t be sweeter and appreciate the love, attention, and treats they’re receiving while in our care. Animal League America would love to see them return to life as beloved pets in a home as soon as possible.

Snickers
Snickers

**Senior Alert**  Look at this face! Senior friend Snickers (Adoption #CO0020) was discovered in his lifetime home after his owner passed away. Naturally, he was a bit forlorn when he arrived at Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center, but tender encouragement and treats have gotten his purring motor up and operating. Now happily placed in a beautiful sunny room, 10-year-old Snickers shines as the center of attention and is a marvelous choice for any home setting. If your lap is empty, this sweetheart would love to fill it.  Can you provide Snickers the loving retirement home he deserves?

Buddy and Shana
Buddy and Shana

**Double Adoption** Buddy (Adoption #VR2277) and his sister Shana (Adoption #VR2700) lost the tranquil life they’d taken for granted when their owner passed away. Animal League America assured them better days are coming and Buddy is helping Shana believe they’ll be ok so long as they have each other.  While Shana has been overwhelmed by so much change, Buddy has put his best paw forward to ensure their lives get back on track. He makes a wonderful first, second, and lasting impression! A quiet home (with children eight and above) will help ease Shana’s concerns. If you’re looking to care for a pair of seasoned tabbies, 8-year-olds Buddy and Shana are ready for you to dote on them!

Lover Boi

Lover Boi’s (Adoption #CO0021) names says it all! Locally rescued by a good Samaritan, this lucky 2-year-old wonder wants to impress with his dashing good looks and scintillating purrsonality. This bachelor is quite the catch, giving out roses left and right hoping they lead him to the happily ever after fairytales are made of. You could be the ONE for him if you hurry into Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center to meet him. You don’t want to miss out on a love like this!

2 Toes
2 Toes

Sweet little 2 Toes (Adoption NCR6103) got her name from the two delicate white toes on her adorable black paws. This understated 11-month-old tuxedo doesn’t want to make a splashy impression; she saves that for her more outgoing friends. If you’re looking for someone patient and sweet, this is the girl you need to meet. 2 Toes doesn’t need to be the center of attention, just nearest and dearest to your heart.

Wolfie and Bibble
Wolfie and Bibble

**Double Adoption** Bonded 7-month-old brothers Wolfie (Adoption #NCR6108) and Bibble (Adoption #NCR6109) aren’t sure what’s next for them, but they’re taking comfort in having each other as they experience new firsts. While Wolfie is slightly more settled into Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center than his brother, Bibble is taking it all in and letting everyone pamper him with treat parties. As if their dashing good looks aren’t enough to grab the attention of purrspective families, Bibble has a little extra something something: he’s polydactyl (meaning he has extra toes!) You’ll win the hearts of this endearing duo when you welcome them into your quiet, predictable home where their true personalities will truly shine.
