Spring is upon us and the Manhasset Chamber of Commerce is busier than ever planning events for this upcoming year and thrilled to bring back “Big Community Clean-up” as part of the Great Global Cleanup on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22 in addition to the Manhasset Al Fresco summer event coming before we know it.
The annual Adopt-A-Hanging Floral Baskets and Adopt-A-Floral Planter campaign is in full swing. The lovely hanging baskets will be placed on light poles in early May.
This year, the Chamber hired Louie Cona Landscaping to hang floral baskets of cascading petunias along Plandome Road. The beautification of Manhasset is something that makes our town look special.
In 2021, the Chamber purchased Boxwood Green Mountain Evergreens, which remain all year, supplemented by seasonal or holiday theme decorations for the planters which enhance the beauty of Plandome Road. In the spring, cascading annuals will be planted in the planters, and in the winter, a holiday planter arrangement will be arranged.
The plants are paid for by donations received from residents, a variety of businesses and organizations. The chamber is working with the Town of North Hempstead and has secured the watering of these beautiful plants by the town to flourish throughout the summer.
We have seen a big growth in participation from our community. It is great to know that our community recognizes and appreciates the fabulous town we live in. We would like to extend our thanks to our generous donors this year. The Chamber is looking for additional sponsorship of these planters to ensure that beautification continues. Your generous donation enabled the Chamber to decorate Plandome Road with seasonal flower baskets for our residents, businesses and visitors to enjoy for all seasons, spring, summer, autumn and winter and the holiday season.
Visit www.manhassetchamber.com for sponsorship and donation opportunities for both campaigns. Sponsorships is $150 for hanging baskets, $300 for planters and $50 for beautification and include name recognition on Manhasset Chamber website.
The overall idea of beautification is to keep Manhasset and Plandome Road looking good for both businesses and our residential community. While first impressions are very important, beautification means our total concern for the physical and human quality we pass on to our children and the future here in Manhasset.
Simple projects like picking up trash in the spring to planting some flowers or shrubs or repairing whatever is beginning to show wear and tear, is one of the quickest and least costly ways to inspire more Manhasset spirit and civic action. And, the added bonus is that it attracts visitors, grows local business and increases property values. We are grateful for all our community businesses, and we look forward to continued work between our Chamber, the businesses, and the residential community. The more support we have the more we can do to keep Manhasset the beautiful town it is. Beautification is an ongoing task.
The Manhasset Chamber is working hard to make Manhasset a wonderful place to reside and we urge residents to get involved in the community, shop local and consider becoming a part of the chamber through a beautification membership. Remember Plandome road belongs to our community and not just businesses. We as our Manhasset community need to think globally but act locally and to take action, so please consider taking part in our local Earth Day Saturday, April 22.
