Joanne Corbin

Pictured above, Corbin is the next dean of the Adelphi University School of Social Work. She comes to Adelphi from the University of Connecticut, where since 2020 she has served as professor and associate dean for academic affairs in the School of Social Work. In this role, she served as a member of the Dean’s Executive Cabinet and oversaw operations and strategic initiatives for the BSW and MSW programs, field education, and the Office of Student and Academic Services.

Rich McMullen

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists named McMullen as chief financial officer. He will help facilitate organizational goals and manage financial performance. McMullen is a business-focused financial leader with over 18 years of experience optimizing operations. He previously served as vice president of finance and CFO at ProHEALTH Care.

Stephanie Gopen

Stephanie Gopen

The Melville-based law firm of Cona Elder Law hired Gopen, who is licensed to practice law in New York and New Jersey. She received her law degree in 2013 from New York Law School  and her master’s degree in Taxation from New York Law School in 2020 and is a graduate of Binghamton University. She previously was an associate at Cooperman Lester Miller Caru.

Daniel Jimenez

Daniel Jimenez 

Jimenez has been named director of dining services at Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Commack. A skilled and experienced chef and manager for Unidine, Gurwin’s Dining Services partner, he is committed to serving the senior population and looks forward to carrying forward Unidine’s mission of healing through food. Jimenez is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and worked for more than 27 years with Compass Group, Unidine’s parent company.

Cheryl Helfer

Cheryl Helfer 

Helfer was elected as an officer of the 20-person board of the Suffolk Academy of Law. She previously was a partner in the Law Offices of Helfer & Helfer LLP, a court-appointed matrimonial mediator as well as an OCA appointed Special Master, was the principal law clerk to a Supreme Court judge and was elected to the District Court bench in November 2019. She sat as the Judge in 1st & 5th District Court in Ronkonkoma until her retirement from the bench in 2022. She is currently a Court Attorney Referee in Suffolk County Family Court.

Dr. Victor Politi

Dr. Victor Politi 

AFC Urgent Care of Long Island recently appointed Dr. Politi as its new medical director. Dr. Politi is a decorated physician and currently serves in many executive positions in the healthcare industry. AFC Urgent Care is currently the largest privately owned urgent care operator in the nation. With four locations on Long Island, Dr. Politi will lead AFC Urgent Care in expanding across Nassau and Suffolk County with plans to open more locations in the near future.

Jennifer Carpentieri 

Carpentieri was named the new administrator of Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. A 27-year industry veteran, she most recently served as administrator at White Oaks Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Woodbury.

Tom Gloster

Tom Gloster

Trahanas Hospitality Group, which is completing a full renovation and re-envisioning of the restaurant and banquet facilities in Eisenhower Park, hired Gloster as executive chef to oversee its kitchen, which includes The Lannin, a banquet and event facility; The Union, an upscale restaurant; and The General, a members-only cigar club and steakhouse.
