MLK Day of Reflection Parade and Ceremony 

Hofstra University and Hempstead Village will pay tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during their annual parade and ceremony. The parade will begin at 9 a.m. in front of Village Hall and proceed to Hofstra’s campus. The ceremony and program will be held at the Sondra and David S. Mack Student Center from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. Admission is free and lunch will be served! villageofhempstead.org 9 a.m- 1 p.m. Jan. 15. 

Live in the Elmont Library Theatre: Celebrate MLK Day! 

Jerome “City” Smith & the City Sounds Music Ensemble invites you to celebrate the birthday and the legacy of the extraordinary Dr. King! No registration is required and it is first-come-first-seated as well as free and open to the public! Elmont Memorial Library Theatre, 700 Hempstead Tpke., Elmont, elmontlibrary.org 1 p.m. Jan. 15. 

Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration: Day of Service 

The Mothers Club of Wheatley Heights Concerned Fathers Association and Half Hollow Hills Community Library present poetry, music and songs honoring Martin Luther King Jr. Open to all. Half Hollow Hills Community Library, 55 Vanderbilt Pkwy., Dix Hills, hhhlibrary.org

MLK Day Time Capsule Workshop at the Long Island Explorium 

The Long Island Explorium invites you to let your creative side shine as you decorate your very own time capsule! This event is available for grades 2-5 and allows you to take home your capsule, bury it and unlock memories in the years to come!
