On Jan. 27, comedy icon, Jackie “The Joke Man” Martling, of Howard Stern fame, will screen his brand new biopic at the LIMEHOF. But, that is just the beginning of comedic entertainment on the Hall of Fame’s roster, set to hit the stage in the coming months.

When Random Media premiered its documentary, Joke Man, available on iTunes, Apple and Amazon, back in July, Martling knew exactly where he wanted to screen it.

“[I first got involved with the]…Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame in maybe 2006, or 2007. They called me to host the first induction ceremony,” says Mineola born, and North Shore bred, Martling.

“So me and Bob Buckman from WBAB, or formerly of WBAB, we co-hosted the event. It was really, really great. [When the permanent facility opened,] (back in November of 2022,) I went out there to see the place…I was really impressed with the place and I really loved it, and I told them, “Hey, listen, I’m going to have a documentary coming out eventually, and I’d love to screen it here. [The whole thing] is really exciting.”

The doc directed and produced, by Ian Karr, follows Martling’s rise from New York comedy clubs, to his success as an author and actor. Notable cameos include Willie Nelson, Penn Jillette, Artie Lang, Sean Young and Mark Cuban.

Martling’s booking is the first in the LIMEHOF’s initiative to get the public to see that the venue has more to offer than simply music-related events.

The comedy event is killing two birds with one stone, as it included an interactive post-screening Q&A with Martling, chock-full of jokes.

“This [event] is part of LIMEHOF’s expansion into entertainment, film, and comedy events,” says Christopher Collora, a public relations executive at the Hall of Fame.

“Tom Needham, (the Hall of Fame’s 2nd Vice Chair, and executive producer and host of the nation’s longest-running filmed themed radio show, The Sounds of Film,) is, currently, setting up [new] events. We will be hosting our second Long Island Comedy Festival event here on April 13th, as well,” continues Collora.

Keep a look out for further comedy events at Stony Brook Village’s Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame, for more fun-filled nights of laughter ahead!
