The Roslyn School District is pleased to announce several new roles and appointments for the 24-25 school year.
Harbor Hill Elementary School Assistant Principal Justin Gabrus will transition to the role of Assistant Principal at Roslyn Middle School. Mr. Gabrus joined the district in 2021. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Childhood Education from SUNY Old Westbury, and his Master of Science at Touro College. He also holds several certifications, including, School Building Leadership, Childhood Education, and Literacy.
Daniel Mulhall will fill Mr. Gabrus’s role at Harbor Hill. He was formerly an assistant principal at John H. Duval Elementary School in Massachusetts, and an assistant principal and third grade teacher at the Daniel Hale Williams Magnet School for STEM Studies in Brooklyn. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Special Education at Providence College, and his Master of Science in Education at CUNY Queens College. He also holds a Educational Administration Certificate from the College of Saint Rose.
Rachel Barshak will assume the role of Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services/Special Education (soon to be vacated by Ms. Cindy Samide who was recently appointed the Director of PPS). Ms. Barshak holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Oswego State University, a Masters in Social Work from Adelphi University, and a School District Leader Certificate from the College of St. Rose. Prior to joining the district, she served as Elementary Supervisor of Special Education at the Massapequa School District and PPS Supervisor at the Lawrence School District.
Kristin Harris has been appointed Student Support Specialist of PPS. Ms. Harris is an experienced teacher, clinical supervisor, and educational consultant, most recently at PBS Consulting. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Science from SUNY Cortland, a Master of Science in Teaching Students with Disabilities from LIU Riverhead, and an Advanced Certificate in Educational Leadership from SUNY Stony Brook.
“We are delighted to welcome these exceptional educators to their new roles and positions within the Roslyn School District,” said Superintendent Allison Brown. “The Board of Education and I are confident that Mr. Gabrus, Mr. Mulhall, Ms. Barshak, and Ms. Harris will bring incredible expertise and enthusiasm to their roles. We look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have on our students and the entire school community in the coming school year.”
