The Northwinds Symphonic Band returned to the Sands Point Preserve’s Black Box Theatre on Sunday, June 8, at 3 p.m., with a program titled “Broadway, Movies and Light Classics.”
Conductors Helen P. Bauer and Brandon Bromsey have curated an entertaining lineup of instrumental and vocal selections from popular films and Broadway productions, along with familiar classical favorites.
The program includes music from “Cinema Paradiso,” “Les Misérables,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Gypsy,” “Candide,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “E.T.,” and “Brigadoon.”
The concert will also feature vocal performances by Broadway actor Karen Murphy and professional tenor Joe Stroppel, as well as showcase performances by members of the band.
The June 8 concert offers an afternoon of family-friendly entertainment. The performance will include one hour of music with a 15-minute intermission.
Tickets are $10 and will be available on the day of the performance, cash at the door or by credit card in the Welcome Center. Non-members must pay a $15 parking fee. Children under age 2 are admitted free.
