The New Hyde Park-based Lakeville Estates Civic Association was scheduled to host a newcomer candidates-only forum on Wednesday, June 18, featuring five Democratic hopefuls.
“It is very difficult for a person running for political office to get their name or message out to the voters without all the negative information that we see every election,” the Lakeville Estates Civic Association wrote in an email to members.
The candidates were to include Nassau County Legislator Seth Koslow, who is running for Nassau County executive; businessman Seth Koslow, who is running for North Hempstead supervisor; Jason Lew, who is running for North Hempstead town clerk; Lisa McArdle, who is running for North Hempstead’s 3rd council district; and Herricks School Board President Juleigh Chin who is running for Nassau County legislator in the 9th District.
The forum, which will begin at 7 p.m. will be held at the Manhasset Lakeville Fire House located at 21-78th Ave. in New Hyde Park. All residents are invited to attend.
Koslow, Lew and McArdle will speak between 7 and 8:15 p.m. Kerpen and Chin will speak between 8:15 and 9 p.m.
The association said many of the incumbent Republican candidates have already spoken at former Lakeville Estates Civic Association meetings.
The association said incumbents running for reelection who have not spoken to the civic association this year will be invited to do so before September.
Candidate meet-and-greets will be held in September and October, as the civic association does every year. All candidates running will be invited.
