Roslyn High School sophomore team wins research grant from New York Institute of Technology

Roslyn High School sophomores Vanessa Theodos and Patrick Hermosura were awarded a $300 grant in the ninth annual New York Tech MiniResearch Grant competition.

Their project, “Using ResNet-18 to Detect the Three Major Blood Cancers: Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Myeloma,” involves training a deep learning model able to detect and classify the three major blood cancers and their subtypes.

Theodos and Hermosura are students in Roslyn High School’s Research Program where they are currently being mentored by teacher Vincent Kreyling.
