The Roslyn Union Free School District announced that Meryl Waxman Ben-Levy, president of the district’s Board of Education, has been named a 2026 Nassau BOCES Education Partner Award honoree in recognition of her commitment to public education and service to students across Nassau County.
Waxman Ben-Levy will be honored at the 19th annual Nassau BOCES Education Partner Awards Gala on April 22, along with 15 other educational leaders, organizations and advocates from across the region.
The Nassau BOCES Education Partner Awards recognize individuals who demonstrate leadership, collaboration and dedication to student success. Since the program’s inception, more than 240 honorees have been recognized for contributions to education.
Waxman Ben-Levy has served the Roslyn community as a trustee and officer on the Board of Education since 2005 and has been board president since 2010. In her role, she works with fellow board members, the superintendent, district leadership, educators and families to support the district’s mission and educational initiatives.
“I am deeply honored to be recognized by Nassau BOCES alongside so many dedicated education leaders,” Waxman Ben-Levy said. “This award reflects the collective work of my fellow board members, our superintendent, district leadership, educators and families who share a deep commitment to public education. Serving the Roslyn community is a privilege, and we are always working to provide students with engaging and meaningful opportunities.”
Professionally, Waxman Ben-Levy is an attorney whose work as a litigator, mediator and arbitrator is guided by principles of fairness and responsibility. Those values also inform her work on the board of education, where she focuses on thoughtful decision-making, fiscal oversight and student-centered outcomes.
During her tenure as board president, Waxman Ben-Levy has been known for a collaborative leadership style and an emphasis on building strong relationships among schools, families and the broader community.
District officials credit her leadership with supporting innovative programming and reinforcing Roslyn’s reputation for educational excellence.
“Meryl Waxman Ben-Levy exemplifies what it means to be a true education partner,” Superintendent Allison Brown said. “Her thoughtful leadership, collaborative spirit and consistent focus on what is best for students have had a lasting impact on our district. This recognition from Nassau BOCES reflects the strength of her service to Roslyn and to public education across the region.”
Waxman Ben-Levy lives in Roslyn with her husband and children. As both a parent and community leader, she has said she values the role schools play not only in academic achievement, but also in fostering character, confidence and a lifelong love of learning.
