June 21 marks the beginning of another eventful summer in Long Island and, as usual, there are many exciting fairs, festivals and carnivals through Labor Day from the East End to the New York City line!

Long Island Outdoor Movie Nights Summer 2016

Whether sprawled out on a blanket or reclined in cars throwing it back to the days of drive-in movies, Long Islanders will once again be treated to outdoor movies all summer long. Dozens of films from both new and old will be screened—weather permitting—across the Island in the coming months. The parks, beaches and community centers that host the events are sure to be fun filled, family centric environments for all to enjoy--usually free of charge. Pack snacks, drinks and lots of insect repellant.

A Beginner’s Guide to Summer on Fire Island

With the return of beach season, so too flock the crowds to Fire Island, the barrier island simultaneously known as a popular tourist destination and a hidden gem full of natural wonders. But FI is much more than that dichotomy allows. It’s home to Robert Moses State Park on the west end, Smith Point County Park on the east end and a national park featuring an eight-mile wilderness preserve.
