Man, 24, Killed in Wrong-Way Crash

A wrong-way crash on the Southern State Parkway Tuesday night claimed the life of a 24-year-old East Islip man, state police said.

The victim, identified as Travis Sloboda, was struck head-on by a 2004 Buick traveling west in the eastbound lane near exit 43A at 10:12 p.m., police said.

Sloboda, who was driving a 1993 Subaru, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the Buick, 63-year-old Edward Ogden of Bay Shore, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he is listed in critical condition, police said.

Police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
