All Breed Dog Show

The Long Island Kennel Club will host its annual dog show at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Auxiliary Field, 1303 Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage. The show features breed judging, rally and obedience competition, a junior showmanship competition, a junior handling clinic, book signing by dog book authors, breed showcases featuring bichon frise, German shepherd, Scottish terrier to cite a few, a cake served to all before Best in Show competition, plus many vendors selling dog products. During lunch, there will be a freestyle exhibition, featuring dogs and their owners dancing. Doors open at 8 a.m. Admission is $8 adults; $4 for children under 12. History Alive

As part of the program, children and parents will be able to try their hand at the everyday chores of 19th-century life at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, including churning fresh cream into butter at the Powell Farmhouse, carding wool at the Benjamin House, assisting in making a hat and sweeping the porch at the General Store with a handmade corn broom. Other aspects of children’s lives will also be covered, including education, with participants having the opportunity to see the School House, where they can write on a slate board; and play, involving rolling wooden hoops beside the Noon Inn. Family Support Group

An ongoing support group for those who have family members or other loved ones with mental illness. Meets on Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. at Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services, 950 South Oyster Bay Rd. The fee is $5 per family. In addition to verbal support, the group presents guest lecturers, workshops, education programs and holds social events. For information call 822-6111.

POB Community Chorus

VVA #82 NC Chapter

Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) was founded in 1978, is congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era veterans and their families. Multi-Faith Forum

Introduction to Chemotherapy

A monthly information session for cancer patients who are beginning chemotherapy treatments. Family members are welcome. Refreshments served. Nurses with special training, dietitians and other professionals present information that can help individuals understand, and cope with, the effects of chemotherapy treatments. There is also an opportunity to share information with others who may have been through similar situations. Young Adult Drug Addiction Group

Offered by the Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Community Program, 950 S. Oyster Bay Rd., Suite 102. For people 18 to 21 who are recovering from drug addiction. POB Senior Citizen Club

Nassau County provides a lunch program for the Plainview-Old Bethpage Senior Citizen Club on Thursdays when the school is in session. Calls (937-6424) must be made by Tuesday to request a lunch or cancel a lunch. A voluntary donation of $3 is requested. The program is held when school is in session in the All-Purpose Room at the Jamaica Avenue School, 85 Jamaica Ave.

POB Senior Citizen Club

•Modern Day Kabbalah Experience with renowned speaker Rabbi Shmuel Lipszyc. Probe the Depths of the Kabbalah in 30 minutes! Participate in our weekly Shabbat classes. No previous background or religious affiliation required. All welcome. Shabbat mornings from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
