The Camp Room Players Present Sleeping Beauty

The Camp Room Players presents Sleeping Beauty, directed by Stephanie Delgado, with musical direction by Frank Sanchez and starring 19 promising young local residents. Sleeping Beauty will open on May 15 at 7 p.m. and continue to May 17; running Friday evening, Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Lake Success Court House, 11 Vanderbilt Drive (North of the LIE service road). A timeless classic about a far-off kingdom with magic and surprises, Sleeping Beauty centers around Princess Aurora who is doomed to prick her finger on a spinning wheel on her 16th birthday and die. But thanks to fast-acting (and fast-talking fairies) is fated merely to sleep until awakened from a kiss from her true love. Filled with Broadway’s brightest and best-known showtunes, including Popular, Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend, and Everything’s Coming Up Roses, this light-hearted romp will prove to be the theatrical event of the season. Monthly Ceili with Pete Kelly’s Ceili Band

The Irish American Society of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens, Inc., 297 Willis Avenue, Mineola, will hold its Monthly Ceili, featuring Pete Kelly’s Ceili Band. Music starts at 8 p.m.; donation is $15. The History of the Village of Williston Park

The Historical Committee of Williston Park will present a program highlighting the history of Williston Park Village. The program will run from noon to 2 p.m. on the third floor of Village Hall, 494 Willis Avenue, Williston Park. There is an elevator at the back of the building. Free refreshments will be served. All are invited to learn more about this delightful village.

Food, Fun and Fellowship at First Presbyterian

The First Presbyterian Church of New Hyde Park, 16 South 9th Street, will hold its Food, Fun and Fellowship. A turkey dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. followed by bingo. Dance to the Music of Andy Cooney at Irish American Society

The Williston Park Village Board will hold their regular meeting at 8 p.m. at Village Hall, 494 Willis Avenue, Williston Park.

All School Districts to Hold Budget Vote and Candidate Vote

All school districts in the area will hold its budget vote and its vote to elect candidates to the school board.

Herricks District-

Residents to vote in gym at Herricks Community Center, 999 Herricks Road, New Hyde Park from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

New Hyde Park/Garden City Park

Residents to vote at Manor Oaks School, 1950 Hillside Avenue, New Hyde Park, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Residents in this district will also vote on the library budget and on the Sewanhaka Central High School budget.

Voice of the Faithful

Northwest Nassau Parish Voice Affiliate was formed by faith-filled Catholics in the wake of the sex abuse crisis in the Catholic Church to support victims of abuse, priests of integrity and to call for the restructuring of the church. Meeting from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Community Church of East Williston, E. Williston Ave. and High St., East Williston. Parking and entrance behind church, off Ward St. All are welcome. She will address: what truth (s) have been learned since 2002. As church leaders and members together continue toward reconciliation, is it possible for “justice and peace to kiss?”

AARP Village Chapter No. 5183 to Meet

The Village Chapter No. 5183 of AARP will meet from 9:30 to 11:35 a.m. at Clinton Martin Park, corner of New Hyde Park Road and Marcus Avenue in New Hyde Park. New members are invited. Stewart Manor/NHP GOP Club to Meet

The next meeting of the Stewart Manor/New Hyde Park Republican Club will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the St. James Lutheran Community Church at the corner of Elton Road and Chester Avenue in Stewart Manor. Guest speakers will be Supreme Court Justice Thomas Whelan and Supreme Court Justice Stephen Bucaria who will discuss the duties of their office as they run for re-election to the court at the election to be held on Nov. 3. Herricks School Board will hold its regular meeting at 7:15 p.m. at the Herricks Community Center, 999 Herricks Road, New Hyde Park.

Sisterhood of Temple Tikvah Discussion on Impressions Of Israel

The Sisterhood of Temple Tikvah, 3315 Hillside Avenue, New Hyde Park, will hold a discussion of Israel at 1 p.m.. At that time Rabbi Randy Sheinberg will discuss, Impressions of Israel-Then and Now. Following her recent return from Israel, the Rabbi will present her perspective of the conditions and changes over the decades in a thriving country wrested from the desert. Admission is free. Coffee and cake will be served.

Memorial Day Celebration

Memorial Day will be celebrated with many parades in the area including the Williston Park parade that will wind through the streets of Williston Park and end up at village hall for a brief ceremony. All schools, municipal buildings and banks closed.

Herricks Community Fund to Hold Annual Carnival

The Herricks Community Fund will hold its Annual Carnival in the parking lot that surrounds the Herricks Community Center, 999 Herricks Road, New Hyde Park from 6 to 9 p.m. The carnival will also be held on Friday, May 29 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Herricks Community Fund Carnival

The Herricks Community Fund Carnival will continue starting at noon and running until 10 p.m. in the parking lot of the Herricks Community Center, 999 Herricks Road, New Hyde Park.

Hillside United Methodist To Hold Flea Market

SCOPE Spring Trip

To Gurney’s Inn and Gosman’s Dock. The bus will leave from the Herricks Community Center parking field, 999 Herricks Road, New Hyde Park at 9 a.m. A leisurely drive through the fabulous Hamptons leads the group to the newly renovated Gurney’s Inn where there will be a guided tour of the beautiful seaside resort in Montauk. A full-course luncheon offers a choice of chicken, beef or fish. Specify choice at registration. There will be a stop at Gosman’s Dock for browsing and shopping. Nassau North Shore Christian Women’s Club

Invites women to its luncheon which is 11:30 a.m. at the George Washington Manor Restaurant, Old Northern Boulevard, Roslyn. The cost of the luncheon is $21.
