Farmingdale Board Members Thank Residents for Re-election

Farmingdale BoardMembers Thank Residents for Re-election

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Farmingdale community for its continued support in our re-election as trustees on the Board of Education. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve this community for the past three years and we look forward to serving responsibly as your representatives for the next three years.

This is also a good opportunity to remind everyone that the budget vote is just one of many ways to express your views regarding the school district. We urge our entire community to get involved. There is at least one public board of education meeting a month all year long. Each public board meeting includes two opportunities for residents to get up and express their thoughts and opinions about school related issues. Come March of each year, board meetings are kicked into overdrive as budget season begins and March and April are filled with numerous and detailed presentations focusing on district expenditures, streams of revenue, and capital projects. These are great opportunities to discuss the next year’s proposed budget before it is adopted, allowing for responsible changes to be made that reflect the district’s long-term goals. Generally speaking, our board of education meetings occur on the first Wednesday of each month with a few exceptions. All the meetings appear on the district calendar, which is mailed to every household during the summer months, as well as on the district website: www.farmingdaleschools.org.

It is extremely important that qualified residents register to participate in our district votes and elections. Proposition 3, which passed on May 19, allows for walk-in voter registration in the District Clerk’s office (located in Howitt Middle School) during regular business hours (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) all year long. Increased participation in budget votes, bond votes, votes on referendums, and the election of trustees will help guarantee that the direction of our school district reflects the needs of our community.

Once again, we thank you for your continued support and look forward to three more years of growth and improvement.
