Obituary – Michael A. Mancini

Michael A. Mancini, 92, passed away June 16, 2009. He joined the Hempstead Fire Department in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and retired with the rank of major. He was an active 59-year member of the Bethpage Fire Department. Among his positions held were charter captain Engine & Ladder #4, commissioner for 35 years, L.I. Legislative Committee (created firematic laws for volunteer firemen), ex-president of the Nassau County Fire District Association 9th Battalion. He was a retired LILCO supervisor (employed 1937-1977). Husband of 67 years to Virginia. Father of Robert (Cathy), Nancy (Ken), Claudia (Dennis), Virginia (Mark) and Michael (Nancy). Grandfather of 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Visitation and Firematic service were held June 18. Funeral Mass was held June 19 at St. Martin of Tours RC Church with interment following at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
