Irish American Society to Hold Dance

The Irish American Society will hold a dance at 297 Willis Avenue, Mineola featuring music by the Billy Hickey Band from 8:30 p.m. Donation is $15. The bar will be open and coffee, tea and soda bread will be served. For further information or reservations, please call 746-9392.

Volksfest 126th German-American Festival

The 126th Volksfest German-American Festival will be held at Plattduetsche Park, 1132 Hempstead Turnpike, Franklin Square. Also on July 12. Schedule as follows: Saturday afternoon music by Di Spitbaum; Sunday night music by The Foehrer Musik Freunde. Also Bavarian Dancing; a Miss Plattduetsche queen and princess contest. Park opens Saturday at 1 p.m. Sunday: German Church Service at 9:30 a.m. Free breakfast 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. with paid admission. Activities for children include free rides, free balloons, ice cream parade. German food and beer; game stands, imported specialties and shooting the rifle range for prizes. Defensive Driving at Holy Spirit, New Hyde Park

Church of the Holy Spirit, New Hyde Park, offering a Defensive Driving Course sponsored by the National Safety Council. The cost is $45. With this course participants will receive a 10 percent reduction in the liability and collisions portions of their insurance premium and it will also remove up to four (4) points from their driving record. Nassau Bar Association to Host Art Treasure Hunt

Looking for some new art? Or do you want to know what your art is worth? Then you won’t want to miss two special events in July at the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn hosted by the Nassau County Bar Association in conjunction with the WE CARE Fund. All proceeds from both events will directly help educational services for disadvantaged children in Nassau County. First, on July 16, WE CARE is hosting a cocktail party and art auction at the art museum from 6-8 p.m. Participants will have the unique opportunity to bid and own one-of-a-kind works of art from private donors and the museum’s vast collections. Tickets are $75 per person. On July 17, find out if you have a hidden treasure in your attic or basement at WE CARE’s Antique and Art Evaluation Day. Bring your antiques, jewelry, objets d’art and furniture for a professional art appraisal by the renowned international auction house Bonhams. Appraisers will be available between the hours of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fee is $30 for the first item and $25 for each additional item. Each person will be limited to three items, Cocktail party reservation checks made payable to the WE CARE Fund at $75 per person may be mailed to the Nassau County Bar Association, 15th and West Streets, Mineola, NY 11501, Attention: WE CARE.
