Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School Names Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Lara Fourman has been named Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School Valedictorian. With an average of 103, this student exemplifies hard work, perseverance and dedication to her studies and extra-curricular activities. Lara has obtained a number of Excellence Awards over the course of her studies at Plainview-Old Bethpage High School. She has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, The Hawk Eye, in addition to serving as Science Olympiad President and Mathletes President. Lara’s talents extend further, serving as a flutist for the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band as well as participating in NYSSMA. She has been named a Regional Finalist in the Siemens Competition in math, science and technology for both her junior and senior year. Lara Fourman will be attending Yale in the fall.

Ms. Samantha McKenna is Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School Salutatorian for the Class of 2009. Samantha achieved this honor with a midyear GPA of 100.63. In her years of high school Samantha has proved herself to be a focused and driven student. She served as President of the National Honor Society during her senior year, has received Excellence Awards in several subjects and is active in the art department. Samantha served as Chief Art Editor during her senior year for the Images Art and Literary Magazine. In addition to her artistic talents, Samantha demonstrated her love of math and science participating in independent research at SUNY Stony Brook and was a Siemens Competition National Semifinalist during her senior year. Samantha McKenna will be attending Cornell in the fall.
