Congratulations to Mystery Picture Solvers!

With the editor back from two weeks of vacation we have several mystery pictures to solve.

Barbara Sullivan Parry called to identify the mystery picture of July 16 saying, “It is taken from the parking lot behind Taby’s and Buckingham’s, facing the parking area behind the buildings on the end of South Street.” Right!

The mystery picture in the July 23 issue is the “Pine Hollow Country Club,” said Adolfo Zepeda adding, “It is near the main entrance.” Right!

Billy Minicozzi guessed it was a house in Locust Valley or Upper Brookville, and he is still rooting for the Mets.

The mystery picture in the July 30 issue was identified by Judy Sniffen. She said, “It’s a picture of Bohack’s that was located across from Brooks Robb and Callahan where Taby’s is located now – or in that group of stores. I think Buckinghams might have been there at the time… but I’m not totally sure.”

Reginald Butt was sure! He said, “The photo in the July 30 issue is the Bohack’s that used to be located on Audrey Avenue, it was then Raymon Liquors, then the Maisonette, and most recently was used until recently by Mill Neck Manor. At the same time, across the street where Buckingham’s is now was the A&P. There was one more supermarket at the time; it was Big Ben; it was where the Oyster Bay Fire Company No. 1 is on South Street.”

Rene Warren of East Norwich said, “I recognize the stairway in the Pine Hollow Country Club.”

Thomas Power, said, “In the July 30 Enterprise Pilot, it’s a picture of 6 Audrey Avenue in OB, the H.C. Bohack Company, Inc., picture.”

Pat Cheshire called to guess, “The mystery staircase is in the front foyer of Coe Hall.” Not correct, but an interesting guess.

You’ve all done very well… You know Oyster Bay!
