Former Mayor Dies

The former mayor of Williston Park, Thomas Muldoon, died suddenly, at home, on September 17, 2009.

Muldoon, a familiar figure in the Village of Williston Park, could always be seen, with camera around his neck, since leaving office, taking pictures at key events in the village.

Muldoon and his wife Carole have been residents of Williston Park for the past 35 years. They have three children, Kevin, Carolyn Andrews (John) and Christopher (Denise) and he was the grandfather of Audrey, Timothy and Conor.

Muldoon was the mayor of Williston Park from 1994 to 1998 and from 1983 until 1996 he was a trustee in the Village of Williston Park.

Prior to his retirement he was Lt. with the Supreme Court Officers and

during all the years in the village Mayor Muldoon received numerous awards. Those honors include being named St. Aidan’s Man of The Year; he was the president of the Williston Park Little League, past president of the Emerald Society of The New York State Courts, member of the American Legion Williston Post No. 144, member of the Corpus Christi Council of Knights of Columbus.

Further, Muldoon was a Boy Scout leader of the St. Aidan troop; he was a Rotary Club member and was named the Kiwanian of The Year. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce of The Williston’s and was a United States Navy veteran having fought during the Korean conflict.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Aidan Roman Catholic Church and Interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale.
