2009 Christmas Boutique/Reindeer Café

St. Dominic Elementary School Parent Association Fundraiser. Shop for beautiful and interesting gifts to put under your tree and someone else’s. Featuring over 40 vendors selling one-of-a-kind gifts, crafts and specialty items. Take the opportunity to relax and enjoy tasty delights at the Reindeer Café. Nov. 20 from 3 to 8 p.m. and Nov. 21 From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Dominic Elementary School, Social Room, Anstice St. Enter through the parking lot below the main church. Victorian Fair

The fair is a two day celebration of fellowship, friendship and community sprinkled with Thanksgiving goodies and unique Christmas gifts. There will be holiday gifts, crafts, specialty vendor boutiques, delicious homemade baked goods and Granny’s Attic rummage sale. The selection includes chic fashion jewelry, elegant picture frames, holiday decorations, fantasy children’s gifts and books and holiday plants. The Silent Auction will be full of one-of -a kind-items. Nov. 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (home cooked, delicious and festive luncheon will be served from noon to 2:30 p.m. in the Victorian Café) at the First Presbyterian Church, 60 E. Main St., Oyster Bay. Santa will visit for a picture on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bring a camera or use the church’s. Call 922-5477.

Harvest Soup Party

At Doubleday Babcock Senior Center, from 6 to 9 p.m. Featuring music, a selection of soups (including the center’s famous Oyster Fest clam chowder), rolls, wine and dessert. This is an all-you-can-eat event. Open to the community. $20 per person. All proceeds support the center. Call 922-1770.

WFC Chantey Sing

The Waterfront Center of Oyster Bay, West End Ave., will be having a Chantey Sing from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Chanteys are marine work songs that were used to inspire the sailors as they hauled massive sails, booms and yards in the old square-rigged ships. The music and words were often created by the chantey man to fit the ship. The Chantey Sing will feature guitars, solos, choral singing and any instruments, such as spoons, that are appropriate for informal singing. No admission charge, but a donation will be requested. Hatchery Fall Fair

Fun, food, environmental exhibitions, games and fishing for children under 12, all gear provided. 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium, 1660 Route 25A, Cold Spring Harbor. American Rhododendron Society

NY Chapter meeting at 2 p.m. in the Burns Horticultural Center at Planting Fields Arboretum, Oyster Bay. George McClellan will entertain with a slide program of “Peak Rhododendron Bloom Time in European Gardens.” Call Jim Fry 631-754-2412.

Walking Tour

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, 1 Bungtown Rd., Cold Spring Harbor, invites the community to a guided walking tour of its historic buildings and botanical landscape. The tour focuses on CSHL’s historic architecture and its Nobel Prize legacy and provides a peek into the cutting edge scientific research taking place. The tour will also cover the indoor and outdoor art works featured on the 117 acre shore-side campus. The tours are primarily outdoors and take place regardless of weather conditions. Areas include stairs and steep hills and are not recommended for people who have difficulty walking. Tours assemble at 10 a.m. in the Grace Auditorium lobby. Reservations are required at least seven days in advance and a minimum of 10 participants are required for each tour. There is a non-refundable tour fee of $5 per person that can be paid in advance or on arrival. Payment can only be made by cash or check and checks should be made payable to Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Call 367-6895.

Multi-Family Garage Sale

A large multi-family garage sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday, Nov. 21 and Sunday, Nov. 22 at 147 Whitney Street, Westbury (one block east of Carle Place High School).

Winter Preparations

Explore the ponds and woods of Bailey Arboretum in Lattingtown with Dan Kriesberg, inspiring naturalist and science teacher. Fun for the whole family. Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast

Beth Dalton-Costello, Friends of the Bay board president, will be honored by the Kiwanis Club of Hicksville at its Pancake Breakfast/Holiday Craft Sale at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Jerusalem Ave. and Old Country Rd., Hicksville, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door. The cost is $8 per adult; $5 per child under 12. If you have a large group (12 or more), contact Diane Brousseau 433-5751 so reserved seating can be accommodated.
