The Levittown/Island Trees Ice Falcons hockey team was successful in defending their championship recently in the High School Hockey League of Nassau County Varsity Liberty Division. After winning the division with an impressive season record of 16-1-3, the Ice Falcons met Oceanside in the playoffs.
The Ice Falcons victory against Oceanside had them meeting Garden City in the championship round. The Ice Falcons lost the first game but came back to win the next two and secure the championship for the second year in a row and the last three out of four years.
The team is comprised of boys from the Levittown/Island Trees area, as well as from the surrounding areas. The three captains, Sean Bradley and Ryan Breck of MacArthur HS and Paul Sabo from Division Avenue High School, lead the team.
The coaches include Tom Carroll, Hal Joseph, Dave Gallart, and Tom Mastroianni.
The Ice Falcons took to the road this past weekend, traveling to Jamestown for the AAU State Championship. The Ice Falcons made it to the semi-finals but lost that game to be eliminated from contention for the championship.
Congratulations Ice Falcons on a very successful season!
