The Inn at New Hyde Park was the winner of a huge wedding contest held on TLC channel show entitled Four Weddings.

The program featured four brides and their husbands and each couple had to attend the others’ wedding and rated them in the following categories:

Venue

Food

Dress

Overall experience

The highest-scoring couple then won a honeymoon to the United States Virgin Islands.

The Inn at New Hyde Park couple scored the highest for venue and dress and had high scores for food and overall experience and won the entire contest.

The Inn at New Hyde Park has come a long way from where it began. Its start can be traced back to 1906, when it was a Brauhof, or brew house, and rest stop owned by the Kalweit family. It was primarily frequented by Long Island farmers commuting to the city.

William and Rita Rueck, two German immigrants who met in the United States, bought the property in 1939. Crowning it as The New Hyde Park Inn, it was kept in the Rueck family until 2005, when it was purchased by Roger Sakowich, Ronald Sakowich, Reid Sakowich, Frank Marino, and Giuliani Botticelli. The new owners started referring to it as The Inn at New Hyde Park.

The Inn went through a grand renovation and expansion in the summer of 2007. Large-scale event rooms were added and old ones were redone. A new garden and patio graces its grounds and an actual Inn is available for brides and grooms to stay at. The original structure of 1906 can still be identified within its present form.
