Nassau County Administrative Judge Anthony Marano announced the appointment of Honorable David P. Sullivan as Supervising Judge of Nassau County Village Courts. Judge Sullivan replaces Judge John G. Marks who was recently appointed Commissioner of Nassau County’s Office of Traffic and Parking Violations.
“Judge Marks has served the Courts with great distinction and honor. We are grateful for all he has accomplished,” said Nassau County Administrative Judge Anthony Marano. “Judge Sullivan is an extraordinary judge with great integrity and leadership abilities. He is a tireless advocate for justice and a person who has selflessly devoted his career to serving others. His knowledge of the law and judicial temperament are qualities that will enhance the operation of our village courts.”
As Supervising Judge, Judge Sullivan is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and supervision of the county’s 61 village courts and more than 120 village justices. Judge Sullivan will also be responsible for coordinating resources and providing assistance and support. Village courts have jurisdiction over a broad range of legal matters.

Judge Sullivan was elected to the Nassau County Court in 2003. He has also served as Acting Justice of the New York State Supreme Court and Acting Judge of the Nassau County Family Court.
Prior to his election Judge Sullivan served as Village Justice for the Incorporated Village of New Hyde Park. He served as a Nassau County Assistant District Attorney in the Major Felony Bureau and the Burglary and Narcotics Bureau. As an ADA he supervised joint law enforcement investigations including major crimes such as weapons and narcotics trafficking.
Judge Sullivan is a member of many professional committees and organizations including: the New York State Magistrate’s Association, the New York State District Attorney’s Association, the Nassau County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, the Nassau County Bar Association and the Nassau County Magistrate’s Association.
Judge Sullivan is a graduate of Fordham University School of Law and resides with his wife and family in New Hyde Park.
