During Catholic Schools Week, St. Ignatius Loyola seventh and eighth graders showed their school spirit in the annual Seventh Versus Eighth Grade Basketball Game. Several games were played to allow all the students a chance to compete.
The eighth grade team was coached by homeroom teachers Mrs. Oliveri and Mr. Cody; the seventh grade team was coached by homeroom teacher Ms. Mertz, with assistance by second grade teacher Ms. Fulcher; and Mr. Welsh officiated.
The game was exciting from the opening tip-off to the final whistle. All of the students gave 100 percent effort. The entire school came down to cheer for its favorite team. When the time ran out and all the games were played, the final score was tied. This was the first time ever that there was a tie to end the game. The excitement and enthusiasm of the students and the teachers made for a terrific afternoon of basketball.
