Both the Village of New Hyde Park and Williston Park hold very impressive Memorial Day Parades every year and this year was no exception.
Fortunately, the weather was picture-perfect on both days, albeit warmer on Monday, but not a drop of rain in sight.
New Hyde Park Village traditionally holds its parade on the Saturday prior to Memorial Day and Williston Park Village holds its parade traditionally on Monday, Memorial Day.
At the New Hyde Park parade the bands of the Manor Oaks School and the Hillside Grade School provided some of the music and at the Williston Park parade the Herricks High School band played for them.
The main speaker at the New Hyde Park parade was New Hyde Park Village Mayor Daniel Petruccio and at the Williston Park parade Nassau County Clerk Maureen O’Connell was their main speaker.
Both reminded not to ever forget the sacrifice of the men and women in the armed forces and always revere this day as a day of solemn rememberance.
