Letter: Dissatisfaction With Voting Method in Levittown

This just doesn’t seem quite right: I stood in line in Salk to vote on the revote. I was #4. After asking my name and giving me the little yellow piece of paper (#4) I was then asked to sign my name next to the #4 on a legal yellow pad. I asked why? “So that we know how many voted.” “But wouldn’t you know that by the end of the night when you counted the ballots?” “Yes, but they’re asking everyone to sign.” “Well, I’m not signing.” Faces and groans all around the table. My comment: “The only thing I have to do is vote”. Besides, at the end of the night the last number given out would be the number of people who voted! I thought our votes were private information. Now you can look up how #4 voted (I rejected the budget).

Now come home; I need to ask someone in the district office what that’s all about. Sad to say, there is no email “Contact Us” link on the district website. Thank God for my Rolodex! To contact anyone in the school district, type in their name, usually an initial followed by their full last name, @Levittown.K12.NY.US. This is in case you have a question you wanted answered as a taxpayer.
