‘Scapes’ Painting Exhibit at Library
“Scapes,” paintings by artist Barbara Lewin, will be exhibited in the Garden City Public Library’s showcases from July 1 to 30, located at 60 Seventh St., Garden City. View “scapes” – landscapes, seascapes and snowscapes created with acrylic paint. The artist’s scenes from nature embellish a collection of wood boxes and trays.
Barbara received an associate’s degree in advertising art & design from Farmingdale State College, New York. She honed her skills as an acrylic painter while battling Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS), a condition, which at one time severely compromised the use of her right arm. Her work centers around natural wonders: the spectacular sunset, the majestic mountains, the endless and soothing sea, and the fascinating cascade of waterfalls. The texture of her palette paintings enables the viewer “to feel” what she sees, and almost hear the whisper of the soft wind as it sways the thick pine trees, ripples the running water and touches the flowers in the fields.
Exhibits are free and open to the public during regular library hours. For hours and directions phone: 516-742-8405. The library is located at 60 Seventh St., Garden City. Funding for gallery and showcase exhibits is provided by The Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Installation and removal dates are subject to change.
