Going back to school doesn’t have to be boring! Here at the Museum, you’ll enjoy adding a special type of book to your growing list of school supplies—a miniature book. Come assemble and decorate back to school book charms to mark this exciting time. All ages. Free with museum admission.

It’s harvest time on Long Island and we’re having a musical celebration in the theater. Join in the fun with our friends from the Richmond Indigenous Gourd Orchestra as they perform instruments created from gourds! Ages: 3 and up. Fee: $4 with museum admission ($3 LICM members), $8 for theater only.

Irish American Society to Hold Irish Breakfast with Friends
The Irish American Society, 297 Willis Avenue, Mineola, will hold an Irish Breakfast with Friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. A chance to catch up with old friends and to make new ones. The Manor Oaks School will hold a hearing with the architect, John Grillo, who will explain, in detail, the Capitol Project to be voted on by the district on Oct. 12. The hearing will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Manor Oaks School, 1950 Hillside Avenue, New Hyde Park.

Natalie A. Naylor to Speak on Daring and Intrepid Airwomen
Natalie A Naylor will be the guest speaker at the Cradle of Aviation Museum, Davis Road, Garden City at 4 p.m. She will talk about the daring young women in their flying machines who flew on Long Island in the early years of aviation including Harriet Quimby, Matilde Moisant and Elinor Smith. Laughter Yoga Has Erupted In New Hyde Park
At “Spinner’s Grinners” Laughter Yoga Club, members take part in a series of laughter, breathing and playfulness exercises with many, many health benefits. You don’t have to be happy, you don’t have to be funny, you don’t even need a sense of humor! Everyone can do this! No joke! We will not be laying on the floor and no knowledge of yoga is necessary. The New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club will again sponsor a golf outing to be held at the Clearview Golf Course in Queens. Dinner will be held at the Inn of New Hyde Park. Holy Spirit Church to Hold Defensive Driving Course
Holy Spirit Church, 500 Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park, will offer a Defensive Driving Course, sponsored by the National Safety Council. At the completion of this course participants will receive a 10 percent reduction in the liability and collisions portions of their insurance premiums and it will also remove four points from their driving record. Cyber Bullies, Sexting Nassau Bar to Hold Free Seminar
Technologically-advanced school yard bullies use the tools of the 21st century, such as laptops, cell phones and smart phones, to target and harass their victims. To help parents protect their youngsters from abusive relations and to deter these “cyber bullies,” the Nassau County Bar Association is presenting a free public education seminar from 7 p.m. at NCBA’s headquarters, 15th and West Streets, Mineola.
