FBHS Civil War Monument Project Draws Attention

The Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society (FBHS) used the Farmingdale Village Street Fair (Saturday, Oct. 9 and 10) as an opportunity to gain attention for their Civil War Monument project. This effort is to raise funds for a permanent memorial to be dedicated during the services on Memorial Day

2011. The monument will pay tribute to the many Farmingdale residents who volunteered for service in this conflict, a remembrance neglected for 150 years. This memorial will be placed adjacent to the existing monuments for local residents serving in the two World Wars, and the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, sited on the Village Green. This is a costly undertaking, and the Society is seeking donations to help offset these costs. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law. For more information interested parties are invited to log on to the FBHS web site at fbhsli.org.
