1863 Thanksgiving

Will be celebrated by Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage. Visitors will be able to enjoy the sights and smells of an old-fashioned Thanksgiving, as wood-burning stoves, beehive stoves, beehive ovens and hearths are used to prepare foods and baked goods made from 19th-century recipes. The culinary exhibits include the “spitting” and roasting of turkey in a tin reflector oven beside the Williams House hearth and preparation of pies at the Powell House. OBVR will also display 19th-century methods of food preservation employed for late fall crops. Historical period music will be played, while at the Noon Inn, children’s stories will be read several times each day. Call 572-8400. Nov. 20, 21, 27, 28 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

LI Roller Rebels Charity Bout

First-time contenders the Ladies of Laceration face off against current champs the Rolling Thundercats at Skate Safe America, 182 Bethpage Sweet Hollow Rd., Old Bethpage (249-1717). Doors open at 6, with a men’s bout starting off the evening at 6:30. Part of the proceeds to benefit The John Theissen Children’s Fund. Other charities will be showcased as well, including LI Cares, AMT Children of Hope Foundation, The Veteran’s Place, and many others. Tickets $10 in advance; $15 at the door; under 8 free.
