I was very saddened to hear about Goldman Bros., a beloved business here in Hicksville, which will be closing its doors. Personally, I have bought shoes and clothing there for years. I also know my grandfather, who owned a bakery at the time, used to shop there because they had certain long johns he would wear specifically during the cold nights when baking.
Many people I have spoken with also had favorite stories of their experience with the store. Some of the employees would show me vintage advertising they would find, knowing how I enjoy seeing that kind of item from the shop.
Recently, the Hicksville Historical Society had wanted Goldman’s to be our guest to honor a longtime Hicksville business, and now I sadly understand why they never gave us a true reply.
Closed or not, Goldman Bros. will be remembered as a landmark in Hicksville.
