Jay-Z said that he had 99 problems, but little did he know that giving props to a college basketball team could be a big one.

After the University of Kentucky took down the University of North Carolina in the Elite Eight at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, Jay-Z went down to the locker room to congratulate the players. He shook hands, gave high-fives and offered positive words of encouragement for the Kentucky players.

Unfortunately for Jay-Z, the fact that he is the minority owner of the New Jersey Nets means that he is not allowed to interact with college players that are not draft eligible.

The NBA is now investigating the incident, looking into what Jay-Z might have said to the players.

While Jay-Z might have violated some NBA rules in the meeting, it should also be noted that he did not violate any NCAA rules or regulations with the visit.

Punishment for Jay-Z and the Nets should be minimal, although the NBA has disclosed fines to team officials in the past. Boston Celtic’s general manager Danny Ainge was fined $30,000 for sitting next to Kevin Durant’s mother during the Big XII tournament in 2007.
