Weird Al Yankovic has taken on Lady Gaga, spoofing her single “Born This Way” with “Perform This Way” but, according to Al, Gaga didn’t give permission for him to release the song, so Al took to his blog to talk about it. And then uploaded the video himself on YouTube.
“I was really hoping that this blog entry would be all about me announcing the release date of my new album. Sadly, it’s not,” Al wrote. “…after hearing it, Lady Gaga decided not to give me permission to release the song, so… it won’t be coming out commercially anytime in the near future. Sorry.”
TMZ reports a source close to Gaga said the singer never denied Al permission to release the song.
“She’s busy touring and hasn’t heard the song yet,” the source told TMZ. “Her manager hasn’t had a chance to play it for her yet.”
